Missed three games. Time for an update!
The Yankees swept the double header with the Rangers as well as the entire series. Good pitching and great hitting... an all around great series for the Yanks. Pettitte looks good and Moose will be back to his old self in no time. Soon the Yankees will have the Wang-Pettitte-Moose 1-2-3 punch in high gear. Not a bad prospect at all!
On to yesterday's game... not so good. Igawa was terrible; last time really was a fluke. The gassed bullpen yet again blew chunks. So much for Colter Bean being any good; he has been showing great numbers in the minors for years now. I suppose he is one of those AAAA guys that just can't handle "the show". Shame.
Pavano might have Tommy John surgery. Save face and retire or let the Yankees buy-out your contract, Carl. You already look like enough of a disgrace.
Rasner and DeSalvo start the next two games, respectively. Let's hope Rasner can get his control down and he should put up a start consistent with a fifth starter. DeSalvo has had stellar minor league numbers. I expect, yet again, a solid "fifth starter start" from this kid, assuming he can get the major-league-jitters out.
The next three games are huge for the Yankees. They can either be great wins or horrible disasters. The bullpen is already gassed from Moose's short start (due to a pitch count limit) and Igawa's implosion. If these two kids can't give at least 5 or 6 innings, then the Yankees are in big, big trouble. This bullpen cannot take much more heavy work. If they are continually overused expect to see them, especially the hard throwers, going down with elbow tendinitis and fatigue issues.
God Bless the Yanks this weekend. They will need it.
Also, let's hope that Damon is ok after he pulled up lame tonight.
